Following an eclectic career with roles that included qualifying with a Big Four firm, being a corporate manager with a major UK bank and running a credit card sales company, Graeme joined French Duncan in 2005 to establish French Duncan Corporate Advisory ("FDCA"), the corporate finance and advisory department of French Duncan. In 2011 he also assumed the role of Managing Partner.
As one of the most recognised corporate financiers in Scotland, Graeme has built FDCA into one of the market-leading corporate finance and advisory practices in Scotland. FDCA has twice been a winner at the Scottish Accountancy Awards.
As well as corporate finance expertise, Graeme has extensive commercial and management experience, having been responsible for two business turnarounds prior to joining French Duncan, and as the Managing Partner of French Duncan, a business with nearly 200 members of staff.

John has been a Partner in French Duncan since 2005 following its merger with O’Sullivan Cleary, where he had worked since 2000. Prior to then, John was Manager of the Business Services group in the Glasgow office of Grant Thornton.
John delivers accountancy, taxation and other business advisory services to clients ranging from private individuals to companies with seven plus figure turnovers over a diverse range of sectors including the third sector.
In his role as an Entrepreneurial Services partner, John looks beyond the client’s business to help the owner/managers with their financial affairs. Eileen is a practising Insolvency Practitioner, JIEB qualified with almost 30 years’ experience in Restructuring and Insolvency and a chartered accountant.
Based in Edinburgh, she heads up French Duncan’s Restructuring & Debt Advisory practice and specialises in advising owner managed businesses, corporate and personal.
Her experience ranges from multi location retail insolvencies to complex personal cases including appointments over insolvent solicitors’ practices. Included in recent cases is the Administration of a company providing specialist security systems in the Middle East and the winding up of a company providing innovative, patent-protected water treatment technology to the tertiary/polishing water treatment and reuse market.
She is chair of the Scottish Technical Committee of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and also sits on R3’s Council and Policy Committee. She represents ICAS on JIEB and sits on the ICAS Authorisation Committee.
Eileen has been heavily involved in Scottish Insolvency matters over a number of years and has engaged with the Scottish Government and the Accountant in Bankruptcy on behalf of R3. Recently she has been involved in the working party set up to consider the modernisation of the Scottish Insolvency Rules.
Hazel began her training as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 and joined French Duncan in 2012 when they merged with Macfarlane Gray. She has specialised in tax for more than 10 years and heads up the tax compliance and consultancy team in the Stirling office, managing a varied client base of businesses and private clients.
Hazel has previously served as the Scottish President of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants for two years and is currently a member of the Scottish committee.
Hazel’s specialisms include capital taxes planning, personal tax planning, advising owner-managed businesses, tax investigations and property taxation, including capital allowance claims. She has particular interest in the construction and agricultural sectors.
Hazel was brought up in a family business and has a deep understanding of the issues surrounding owner-managed firms. She draws on this background when advising on commercial and tax matters.

John trained with McLachlan & Brown before joining Price Waterhouse at the start of the 1980s as a tax senior. He moved to Arthur Andersen & Company in the same capacity two years later, before his appointment as a tax manager and, subsequently, tax partner at a constituent firm of Scott Moncrieff, where he remained for some 21 years. John was appointed head of tax in Scotland for BDO in 2006, joining French Duncan as a partner in 2014.
He specialises in advising owner-managed businesses and their owners on a wide range of tax matters, including: acquisitions and sales; reorganisations; share valuations; succession planning; shares schemes; tax efficient investments and inheritance tax planning. John has also advised charitable and not-for-profit organisations and has prepared expert witness reports covering a range of issues.
He has established a reputation amongst his clients as a tax expert who can make often complex matters readily understandable to the benefit of themselves and their businesses.
Greg trained with Price Waterhouse in Glasgow. He has experience at board level in an SME with institutional investment and has successfully grown and developed a business advisory practice through organic growth, merger and acquisition. Greg joined French Duncan as a Partner following its merger with Macfarlane Gray in 2012.
He advises SME clients on all aspects of business growth, with particular focus on the technology and construction sectors and owner-managed businesses in general.
A primary focus for Greg is the continued growth and development of French Duncan as the leading business advisor to SME businesses in Scotland.
Prior to setting up as a sole practitioner in Dumbarton in 1984 Charles trained with KPMG. The subsequent merger with Kevin O’Sullivan formed the partnership of O’Sullivan Cleary and this partnership proceeded to merge with French Duncan in 2005.
Charles has gained considerable experience in dealing with the needs of smaller family businesses over a wide range of business sectors and, over the last five years, has built a large range of payroll clients in the Dumbarton office.

Having joined the firm as a CA trainee in 1989, Stephen enjoyed a varied career in his early years, gaining valuable experience in audit, accountancy, tax and also business recovery. Thereafter focussing on audit and accounts, Stephen progressed to partner level in 2000.

Nicola originally joined the firm as a CA trainee in 1999, gaining valuable experience in audit, accountancy and tax, together with her CA qualification. Post qualification she spent sixteen years working for two top ten firms, spending nine years in the central belt of Scotland, with a further three years in Dublin, and four years in Aberdeen. She re-joined French Duncan in January 2019 as Audit Partner.

Brian qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995 and shortly afterwards joined Coopers and Lybrand specialising in business recovery, working throughout the UK. Thereafter, he moved to Deloitte as a Director within its Restructuring Services before joining French Duncan as a Partner in 2012.

Tony trained and qualified with one of the Big Four and, following his move to French Duncan, was quickly promoted to partner. He has been with the firm for 25 years and has seen the growth of our client base, services and expertise.

Stephen is an experienced tax advisor who has worked in both practice and industry roles during his career. He started his career in London with BDO prior to working with Lloyds Banking Group for three years, where he specialised in providing tax advisory services. Stephen joined French Duncan as a tax director in 2015 from a mid-tier firm in Glasgow and became a Partner in May 2017.

Iain moved to Bermuda in 2009 where he worked in the corporate finance and valuations department of KPMG before taking on a role as corporate finance and strategy manager at London listed insurance company Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings Ltd. Formerly a partner with a mid tier law practice, Linda changed careers in 2010 to join French Duncan. She therefore has invaluable experience of the legal as well as the technical aspects of all insolvency matters.

Robert started his career at a top 15 accountancy firm, working in both personal and corporate tax, before qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2008.

In 2012 Robert joined a top 10 accountancy firm, specialising in the provision of business tax advice to SME’s, owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals.

Tommy qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1991 with a top national accountancy firm. Having gained broad general practice experience, Tommy joined French Duncan in 2001 and, since then, has progressed to the role of audit Director within the Glasgow office.

Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 after training with a Big four firm. Graeme has spent his career working with businesses of various sizes, advising and running activities across the full spectrum of their marketing, communication and growth.
Having gained an MA in Economics from The University of Edinburgh, Graeme joined a marketing consultancy in London working for blue-chip clients such as Unilever, Cisco, Siemens and Standard Chartered Bank, before joining the in-house communications team at Royal Dutch Shell where he led on all UK sponsorship activities.
On returning to Edinburgh, Graeme became Head of Communications & Development at the CMI (Edinburgh International Film Festival & Filmhouse) before joining The Union Advertising Agency where, as Group Account Director, he headed accounts for clients including Skyscanner, Miller Homes, Sterling Furniture, Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Oriam.
Following a stint as Marketing Director at technology company Clearwater Controls, Graeme joined French Duncan in January 2019. As Marketing Director, Graeme leads the marketing team and is responsible for marketing strategy and activation across all service lines and industry sectors. Linda joined French Duncan when the firm merged with Macfarlane Gray in 2001. She has played a significant role in the growth of the firm, previously managing the workflow and business development and more recently in the last few years has established French Duncan’s Payroll team.
Linda was promoted to Head of Payroll in 2017, and since then has grown the team to 10. The team are based at our Stirling office and provide services to a wide range of clients from Aberdeen to London.

Maria started her career in HMRC some 20 years ago in the Thames Valley, where she was involved in both VAT and Excise and Inland Customs. From there, she returned to Scotland to join a Big Four practice, specialising in VAT. Maria joined PKF in 2000, moving across to BDO following the merger in early 2013 as VAT manager, before joining French Duncan in 2015.
Having spent two decades working in VAT, Maria has a gained extensive experience in dealing with HMRC and assisting clients to understand and manage how VAT applies to their business.
With experience in dealing with businesses across all sectors, Maria has been widely involved in the charity and not for profit sector, manufacturing, leisure industries, international businesses and, more recently, the renewable energy sector. David joined French Duncan in 2012 following a period as an insolvency consultant for a number of insolvency practices. He has over 10 years experience in insolvency, prior to which, he specialised in credit risk for a large utility company.
David currently manages our Glasgow insolvency team. As a qualified non-appointment-taking insolvency practitioner, he provides advice to directors, accountants, solicitors and lenders in relation to business turnaround, restructuring and insolvency.

Kevin qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and as an Insolvency Practitioner in 2005 specialising in both corporate and personal insolvency.

Stephen began his career working for a short time at HM Revenue & Customs as an Administrative Officer before joining an independent CA practice as a tax assistant dealing with all tax compliance issues and identifying tax planning opportunities. Three years later, he was appointed as tax manager to a mid-tier accountancy practice, where he remained for six years, before joining French Duncan in 2015 in the same role.
Stephen has gained extensive experience of working for both personal and corporate tax clients which helps him give more comprehensive tax advice. Stephen has gained exposure throughout his career to all aspects of Employment taxes and has added to this expertise through completing numerous Employment tax review and due diligence reports. Stephen has also been heavily involved with giving advice, both technical and compliance based, on all aspects of employment related securities which covers both tax advantaged scheme such as EMI, SIP, CSOP and non-tax advantages schemes.
Drew qualified as a chartered accountant in 2008 from an accountancy practice in Dundee having trained as a general practitioner working in all areas of accounting, including: auditing; company accounts; partnership accounts; company tax; personal tax; management accounts; business planning; bookkeeping; tax planning and systems advice.
Having joined French Duncan in 2009 as an audit senior, Drew worked his way up to Audit Manager and managed a portfolio of audit clients across a range of sectors. With a primary focus on commercial business, his client portfolio included: healthcare, property, construction, manufacturing and agriculture. Having worked in compliance for a number of years Drew transferred to our Managed Client Services department and was appointed Director in our Entrepreneurial Services Department in May 2017. Drew uses his strong technical skills gained from his years in audit mixed with his background as a general practitioner to understand his clients’ business. After completing his ICAS training with a mid-tier Edinburgh accountancy firm in 2005, Ian went on to work in the assurance department of a Big 4 firm in the Cayman Islands for two years. Staying in the Cayman Islands, he went on become a captive account manager for a further ten years before joining French Duncan in January 2017.
Ian brings with him significant experience in providing high quality services to a range of clients, and prides himself on having excellent communication skills. As French Duncan’s manager within the Outsourced Service Department he will ensure all French Duncan’s clients are able to access and manage their accounting services through various cloud accounting platforms. Giancarlo qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 and has significant experience working for a range of companies, from listed multinational to SME, along with accounting practice.
Giancarlo has held a number of senior positions over the years, latterly focusing on operational and commercial strategy in the Media and Hotels sectors.

Craig qualified as a chartered accountant in 2008 whilst training with a top 10 national accountancy firm and, since then, has built up invaluable experience of the small to medium sized owner managed business sector.
Prior to joining French Duncan in 2015, Craig spent time working out of general practice, where he consolidated all the skills he had developed working in public practice and enhanced his operational and commercial skills.
As Director of the Entrepreneurial Services team, Craig advises an extensive range of clients from small family-owned companies to sizeable limited companies on all aspects of the accountancy function. Neil qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2011, training with a well-established firm in Paisley. From there he joined a small accountancy practice in Glasgow where he focused on the provision of high quality service to his varied client base, achieving this predominantly through the use of cloud accounting software.
Neil joined French Duncan in 2016 bringing with him a specialism in cloud accounting solutions. He has extensive experience in providing clients with high quality, user-friendly management reporting services and advice.
