Healthcare, Care Homes etc

Healthcare, Care Homes etc

Observing that the demographic trend of an ageing population is leading to an inexorable rise in the level of demand for healthcare services, we established our specialist healthcare division in 2010 to consolidate our wealth of experience in this burgeoning sector.

Our team comprises extensive healthcare experience and expertise spanning the full range of financial disciplines. Facilitating the cross-fertilisation of ideas and solutions, we meet on a regular basis to discuss all the latest issues impacting on the healthcare sector.

Specific areas we operate in include:

Care Homes:
The grading of care homes by the Care Inspectorate enables the best private sector operators to attract service users willing to pay for a service superior to that available in the public sector. Amongst the various issues affecting the care home sector are: lending restraints; the challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified and trained staff, business succession and trends towards domiciliary care.

There are a number of highly geared operators in this sector, which makes cashflow an issue and, as care homes are staff intensive, changes in pension legislation will inevitably result in rising costs for operators. We work closely with clients to provide a partner-led service that addresses these and other issues head-on. We work as a team to deliver a range of service lines, from tax advice to corporate finance, audit and business services advice.

We actively network with other professionals operating within the sector and attend regular forums to keep ourselves up to date with all the latest developments impacting on this market. We care about the health of your entire business.

GPs and Medical Professionals:
The framework within which GPs operate is characterised by stagnating income and increasing overheads due to rising staff costs. Whilst tax planning is a perennial issue, doctors are increasingly seeking advice on the impact of recent changes to pension legislation.

Our experienced team of experts has been active in the GP and medical professional sector for decades. We work for a significant number of medical practices across Scotland's central belt.

We know just how busy GPs can be. That's why we make a point of coming to see you in your own medical practice. We focus on service and offer a fully integrated accounts and tax team approach.

We actively network with other professionals operating within the sector and attend regular forums to keep ourselves up to date with all the latest developments impacting on this market.

Dentists:
Dentists operate within a market characterised by stagnating income from the NHS, a drive towards private fee top-ups and rising costs. Whilst business structure and tax arrangements for associates are issues affecting many dental practices, other topics of interest include compliance, government directives, exit routes and capital allowance reviews.

Our team work for a significant number of dental practices across Scotland.

Opticians:
Opticians operate within a fiercely competitive market; with independent operators competing against national chains with multiple outlets, affording them economies of scale and buying power.

We work for a number of independent opticians across Scotland's central belt and, in addition to arranging the sale and acquisition of opticians, have experience in helping opticians grow organically from a single to multiple outlet practice.

Pharmacies:
The marketing within which pharmacies operate is renowned for its competitiveness; with independent operators competing against national chains with multiple outlets.

We have worked on arranging the sale and acquisition of pharmacies and have experience in helping chemists grow organically from a single to a multiple outlet practice.
