Scot Hoist are a Glasgow based company that provide hoist hire services to the construction industry across Scotland and north of England. They have been a client of French Duncan for over ten years and we recently worked closely with them to implement some changes to the firm’s bookkeeping and processes.
What we did
After an initial discussion with the client, it become clear that they needed further support so they could focus on the trade element of the business. We knew their previous accounting system and processes needed modernised, and advised the client that this would be an evolving process to get these up to date and then continue to improve on them each month as we go forward. Having never engaged us in the bookkeeping/admin side of the business previously, they did have some reservations.
Impact we had
French Duncan now carry out all bookkeeping functions, complete quarterly management accounts and file VAT returns on behalf of Scot Hoist. This gives the client the peace of mind that the financial/admin information has been accurately processed, and we now act as a ‘safety net’ as this part of business was new to them. The client can see their accurate financial position on a real time basis, which enables them to manage the day-to-day activities of the business. The client feels they now have better insight into the running of the business and are therefore more confident in making decisions. They enjoy the close relationship we have created, building trust and openness where they can pick up the phone or jump on a Teams call about various issues. Our payroll team now also provide monthly payroll services to the client and we also recently put our HR services team in touch to assist with an issue, who reached out and resolved this within the same day.
