Background
Project Trust is a Scottish charity, based on the Hebridean Isle of Coll, which has been organising long term voluntary placements in Africa, Asia and Latin America for young people since 1967. Every year it selects up to 300 young people from across the UK and parts of Europe for either 8 or 12 months overseas teaching, social care and outward bound projects.
Working with partners overseas, the projects are carefully chosen to ensure the volunteers’ skills can be put to good use in their host communities and do not take work away from local people.
What we did
French Duncan has been working with Project Trust for over 50 years, providing financial guidance and advice to the Board of Trustees and the Senior Management team. For many years we provided an outsourced finance function which included maintenance of the accounting records and production of regular management information for the Trustees. Project Trust brought the finance function in-house several years ago and we currently act as Auditors for the charity and also provide corporate tax, payroll and company secretarial services.
Impact we had
By providing consistently reliable services to Project Trust over the last 50+ years, we have given the charity the reassurance that they are not only meeting compliance standards, but are maximising the use of their finances to deliver on their charitable objectives. We recognise how important financial efficiency is to charities in particular, and as well as providing guidance and advice on improvements to financial controls and systems, we have more recently provided additional advice on grant applications and support and advice in connection with recovery from the Covid pandemic which has temporarily halted the ability of Project Trust to send volunteers overseas.
