Our forensic accounting department provides a level of litigation support to lawyers throughout Scotland unrivalled by any other independent practice and more economically and efficiently than many of our larger competitors.
We bring the requisite commercial experience and financial expertise to bear on a range of legal cases with clients receiving a more personal service with direct partner involvement than they might receive from a larger accountancy firm.
Heading up the department is partner Jeff Meek who, in addition to his many accountancy qualifications, holds a law degree. Jeff is directly involved in the delivery of all forensic work undertaken by the department.
A member of the Society for Expert Witnesses, Jeff has acted on numerous accounting and commercial matters at the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts for a variety of cases, including audit negligence, fraud, proceeds of crime and criminal investigations, business valuations and divorce and commercial disputes.
Recent forensic valuation assignments include:
- Sale of companies
- Sale of shares
- External investors
- Enterprise Management Incentive Options
- Restricted securities
- IP rights for book publisher
- IFRS 3 valuation on business combinations
- Intellectual Property
- Brand value
Other forensic accounting assignments include:
- Loss of profits claims
- Royalty audits
- Employee fraud
- Investigation of hidden assets
Our branch network extends throughout the Central Belt and much of the demand for our forensic accounting services comes from regional locations where local legal practices are less able to find local accountancy firms with the requisite skills to provide expert litigation support.
