Gordon trained in the Corporate Tax department of Deloitte in Glasgow and completed his ICAS examinations, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. He joined Robertson Craig as a Tax Consultant in 2012, being promoted to Manager in 2014 and Senior Manager in 2015. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2012.
Gordon has the rare distinction of being admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), becoming one of a small number of individuals to have attained Fellowship in Scotland by demonstrating an outstanding technical ability that reflects a long-standing interest in tax policy. Gordon has also been an active member of the Owner-Managed Businesses Technical Committee of the CIOT since January 2017.
Gordon joined French Duncan in 2018 as a Senior Manager and specialises in advising large corporates, as well as owner-managed businesses and their owners on a wide range of tax matters, including: corporate tax planning for transactions and tax due diligence, corporate reconstructions, demergers and management buy-outs, employee share schemes, capital allowances planning and international tax issues, as well as general corporate tax compliance, including HMRC enquiries.
Possessing a broad understanding of the interaction between the tax and commercial aspects of transactions, Gordon believes in working pro-actively with his clients to deliver practical tax solutions that meet with their commercial objectives.
