After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with ICAS in 2000, Gavin spent seven years training as a tax specialist with a number of small and mid-tier accountancy practices, advising SMEs and high net worth individuals on tax-related matters. Following a period working in-house, Gavin went on to spend six years with a global asset manager. During this time, he relocated to the company’s Singapore office where he spent over two years establishing tax processes and procedures in south east Asia. On his return, Gavin went on to work in the corporate tax departments of a FTSE 100 UK bank and a FTSE 100 global asset management business.
As Corporate Tax Manager in French Duncan’s Edinburgh office, Gavin deals predominantly with UK corporate tax. Specialising in the property, hospitality and asset management sectors, Gavin advises clients on issues such as capital allowances, research and development, share schemes and company restructuring.
