Unique initiative sees French Duncan launch HR Services division
25 November 2014
In a unique initiative for an accountancy firm, leading mid-tier practice French Duncan has launched an innovative HR Services division to provide bespoke HR solutions to businesses.
Headed by Louise McCosh, a law graduate, a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development with a Masters in HR and an extensive background in external consultancy support specialising in HR and Employment Law, French Duncan HR Services’ approach is based on strong client relationships, commercial advice and a solid understanding of its clients’ businesses.
“The division has been established to help clients and businesses by offering professional advice that frees up valuable time for them to focus on progressing their businesses, together with best practice and solid legislative guidance providing peace of mind that any staffing issues are managed appropriately,” said McCosh.
“We offer a range of pragmatic, hands-on advice to ensure that all employment matters move away from a fire fighting approach to the employment life cycle: our philosophy is prevention is better than cure.
“Delivered on a retainer or ad hoc basis, either on or off site, depending on individual client needs, our aim is to guide clients through all their HR requirements, ranging from pre-employment issues such as recruitment and induction, through employment issues such as training and development, appraisals and absence management, to such post-employment issues as redundancies and other dismissals.”
In addition to McCosh, French Duncan HR Services comprises: Stephen Hughes, partner; Lois McMurtrie and Amy Gardiner. Both McMurtrie and Gardiner have been brought on to work with McCosh to grow this division.
Hughes said: “The formation of French Duncan HR Services marks a step-change towards our goal to gain further recognition for the firm as a provider of a range of business advice beyond our acknowledged quality accountancy services and specialisms, including HR, payroll and financial services.
"We know how important it is to look after our staff, which is why we've spent the first year of this venture developing what we see as best-of-breed for our own business prior to introducing this new service line to the marketplace.
"Our service aims to provide an exceptional level of support to our HR clients. We are offering a fresh approach to HR management rather then reacting to HR issues after the event, which, I believe, is a more value-for-money offering than come of the current availability in the marketplace.
“Adopting this approach enables us to partner with businesses to remove the concerns and time commitment required to manage complex employment relationships, leaving them better placed to get on with growing their own businesses, French Duncan HR Services is another example of our enterprising, innovative approach towards building on our client-centric culture across the firm.”
