GDPR is coming…
Data protection law is a critical compliance area for any charity that handles personal information.
With the implementation of the new data protection law in the form of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect from 25 May 2018, it is paramount that all organisations have already started preparing. GDPR focusses on what personal data you collect, store or share with third parties and will require changes to current policies and procedures. It is not just a tick box exercise and it needs all staff and volunteers to embrace new procedures.
It is also important to note that charities are not exempt from historical or future data legislation, with equally heavy fines in place for those who seriously breach this new piece of legislation.
French Duncan’s Andrew Guy and Joanne Queen will provide comprehensive, practical advice, covering areas including:-
- Effects of GDPR on fundraising and corporate development (including commercial participators)
- GDPR, Consortia and Joint Working
- Cybersecurity for charities
- Processing of personal data & individual’s data rights – including employees, volunteers, service users, members, supporters and donors.
- Data controllers and processors & their associated responsibilities
- Practical guidance on how to approach GDPR
- Examples of charities that have breached the current data protection act
- How French Duncan can further help with your charity’s GDPR compliance requirements
- Your questions answered
