The business is led by Zane Hunter, who has over 25 years industry experience, the majority as an adviser within national and international professional practices.
Zane is assisted by Senior Wealth Manager, Peter Haveron, who has been providing financial advice to clients for over 25 years, having worked within the banking and insurance sectors. Wealth Manager Kenny Stevenson has also advised clients for a lengthy period, having operated within a large financial advisory business as well as an international stockbroking operation.
Technical support and guidance as well as overall quality control is provided by Peter McGowan, our technical Paraplanner. Peter’s experience extends to 15 years within banks and independent financial advisory businesses, both in support roles and as an adviser.
Responsibility for client liaison, facilitating the implementation of our services and administration lies with Isobel Noonan and Elaine White, both of whom also have industry experience of more than 25 years. Isobel's experience includes working at management level within a household name insurance company, whilst Elaine has also worked within legal practice.
Wealth Management Managing Director
With a career spanning 25 years, Zane has amassed a wealth of experience in strategic financial planning and investment management. He was a Senior Consultant and latterly Assistant Regional Director for Baker Tilly Financial Services for seven years, before the acquisition of the company by Towry, where he served as a Wealth Adviser for the next five years. Zane was adopted as a Private Client Partner at Broadstone Pensions and Investments (formerly BDO Investment Management) for three years prior to joining French Duncan (Financial Services) as Managing Director in 2015.
Zane has extensive experience in advising clients and their solicitors and accountants about the various financial, legal and tax implications of private wealth matters and specialises in advising the OMB and SME markets, particularly in relation to pensions and property, tax-planning mechanisms and exit-planning, advice to Lottery winners and vulnerable clients, as well as advice to the third sector. Zane is regularly asked to provide second opinion work.
He has developed a reputation as a forward-thinking professional, able to interact effectively with fellow professional advisers; an attribute made particularly valuable given the recent changes made to the regulatory environment resulting in a fundamental change in the way advisers interact with clients.
Wealth Management Senior Manager
Peter has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years and has been with French Duncan (Financial Services) since 2001, heading up our financial services department and advising corporate and personal clients alike.
With a ‘Statement of Professional Standing’ awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute and as an Associate of the Personal Finance Society, Peter provides a wide range of advice to suit the specific needs of his clients, including: retirement planning for individuals; retirement planning for companies; retirement benefits planning; inheritance tax; investment advice for regular and single premium saving and protection advice for individuals and businesses.
As an Independent Financial Advisor, Peter provides bespoke financial advice to both personal and business clients, always ensuring he understands all objectives and requirements. He will devise a financial plan which includes short-term advice and will continue to monitor and adapt the plan on an ongoing basis.
Wealth Management Manager
Kenny cut his teeth in 2008, during the worst financial crisis for the last 30 years, as a stockbroker and Financial Adviser with Edward Jones. He has also worked as Financial Planner and Wealth Manager at Towry and as a Senior Business Financial Planning Manager at The Royal Bank of Scotland.
His role as Wealth Manager at French Duncan Financial Services includes offering advice on such areas as: preserving wealth and succession planning; retirement planning advice; estate planning, including Trusts & Inheritance tax (IHT); investment management; protection and long term care planning.
Kenny’s philosophy is simple: to understand the client and then help them achieve their goals. By understanding what clients need to achieve, he then puts their financial situation into the context of their own lives and provides guidance as to the most appropriate course of action. He adds value by providing knowledge and expertise to enable his clients to achieve financial success.
Client Service Executive
Having started her career as a legal secretary, Elaine switched to the financial services industry a decade later to work for the managing director of a small brokerage as financial administrator for nine years. Following some large corporate work experience, she joined French Duncan 14 years ago, spending her time principally as a paraplanner, but now as a Client Service Executive.
Handling all aspects of financial planning and the management of clients, the knowledge gained by Elaine at French Duncan has enabled her to maintain and promote a professional service to personal and corporate clients alike.
Friendly and approachable, Elaine enjoys a strong professional relationship with all her clients.
Having worked in financial services for over 15 years, Peter joined French Duncan in 2015. His previous experience covers a variety of roles, ranging from an Independent Financial Adviser to providing technical support and investigating complaints.
Peter holds a number of professional qualifications, including the prestigious Chartered Financial Planner designation from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
His current role involves working alongside advisers to help formulate advice, research and providing technical support on various issues. He also helps produce cashflow modelling reports, which enable advisers to model a range of possible scenarios to discuss with clients, forming a major part of the advice French Duncan Wealth Management provides.
Peter acts as an additional point of contact for clients and is proficient in explaining many of the more technical areas in simple and straightforward terms.
Client Service Technician
Isobel joined French Duncan in 2015 with some 35 years of administrative experience gained with two major UK insurance/investment companies. Following her work as a sales support manager for 25 years, since 2010 she has built on this extensive experience by working for Independent Financial Advisory businesses.
Isobel shares responsibilities for client administration, including portfolio records and new business processing. As part of this process she is in constant communication with clients, investment managers and product providers.
Focused on building strong relationships with clients and product providers alike, Isobel always delivers on her promises.
Julie has worked in financial services since leaving university in 2006, where she studied for her Financial Services degree at Glasgow Caledonian.
Having joined French Duncan in 2017, Julie works with advisers to provide technical support helping with research and to assist in the advice process, as well as preparing recommendation reports and client facing documents.
With over a decade of experience within the financial services sector, Julie has built an in-depth understanding of the various types of products available and how these interact with client’s needs and expectations. One of her main priorities is delivering a great service to clients and the advisers and colleagues she works with. Julie enjoys the ever changing world of financial services which allows for constant learning and personal development.
